19 Thoth – Following the Ankhetmas Holiday, the game has certainly slowed down.  While some high-level players still make attempts at the Dungeon Master and the newer recruits slowly advance through the early game content, a lack of player activity has caused the daily gears of Ankhet to grind almost to a standstill. One longtime player suggested that the power level of relatively new attacks implemented with the Dzimba-dza-mabwe questline have made Player vs. Player combat irrelevant. Another was overheard to state that there was simply nothing left to do in the game in terms of advancement save making purchases at the Aesthete Emporium - and why bother when one has completed all of the major quests?

This may soon be at an end, readers. “There is such a major overhaul in the works” announced The Oracle of Thebes in the official IRC chat. Set to roll out after the launch of the Black Spire and the end of the Dzimba-dza-mabwe questline, it promises to be one of the largest changes to Ankhet since the basic paths were redesigned. What can we expect from this revamp, you ask? “Items will equip,” explains Thebes. “Helm, Weapon, Off-Hand, Armor, 4x Misc, some things [will] have effects even if unequipped.” He also stated that at some point when the content was closer to being finished, he would ask The Oracle of Abydos to open a second game server for “testing”, where players could experience the new content and find bugs before it was implemented in the full game. What other changes are in store? “New players will have some direction,” Thebes expands, “But there will still be lots to figure out” As to why he feels this revamp is necessary, he elaborated that, “Favour is too easy now. Attacks are more meaningless, the PVE is difficult to follow [and] the economy is chaos due to a lack of primary currency. [Players] like EA go from level 0 to 110 in like 90 seconds.” As to if all player progress in Ankhet would be reset to accommodate the new systems, Thebes stated that “I don’t think we will reset, but I am not sure how we’ll deal with some of the changes.”
